The Cornish Vicar's Daughter includes teaching on pornography ( given by Janet to Peter ) with indirect brief reference to it''s use. Masturbation. A topic I want to include in Endhills, another attempt at using a fiction to present Christian truths. This lead me to an excellent post on Chrisitnaity.com - Is Masturbation a Sin?

It agrees with the teaching Janet gave but goes a lot further. And uses these words in the introduction, ratifying my decision to include this topic in The Cornish Vicar's Daughter and encouraging me to go there again in Endhills...

Ah, the dreaded M-word, masturbation. It has become a hot topic in the Christian community, and, at the same time, it is still very taboo. Our culture refuses to talk about it and those who do assume we already know the definitive answer. We cannot have a healthy attitude about sexuality if we refuse to talk about it.

The article mentioned above includes a summary of Bible passages helpful in clarifying God's view on masturbation, a word never used in the Bible. Two of them are from Peter's first letter. (Peter, my favourite disciple because of his genuine impulsiveness,)

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. (1 Peter 4:7)

Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. (1 Peter 2:16 )

And then I realised I had very little knowledge of the Bible book.  Bibleproject.com to the rescue!  Like they helped me get into the book of Hebrews - see the post here.  Here's another excellent teaching video....
